Myabe its the pale chocolate malt. Very dark attractive brew with nice foamy off-white head. Flavor is bolder than the aroma. Good combo of chocolate and coffee with sharp, but not overdone, bitterness, maybe from the black or chocolate malt. Nice finishing drink, and alternative to coffee, to any Iron Hill meal. michael-pollack (2711), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Crystal clear, very dark ale with a deep, copper hue when held up to bright light.
Smells like a chocolate cola.
Tastes like a chocolate milk shake. Very well-balanced; not sweet, not bitter. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, astringent, chocolatey finish. World class brew! obxdude10 (1561), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA

Not as bitter as most porters, and missing a certain deep wine quality. Very easy to enjoy, however. A good session porter. Not holing the chocolate/coffee notes as strongly as other porters. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA

I tried this beer first, this one is the reason I came, and I was not dissapointed. Pour is near opaque dark brown with crimson highlights, low carbonation, but hey, it’s on cask. Served at a perfect temperature, thrilling because it’s so rare, so I dove right in. Aroma is very roasty malts, mild coffee, anise, almonds and dark fruit just poking through. Medium to full bodied, velvety texture. Flavor is coffee, chocolates, prunes, very subtle hoppiness, more anise and dark fruit, like Wisconsin cherries. Finish is medium in length, very smooth and pretty dry in the end, lingering roastiness is on my tongue until I try my next beer at this fantastic brewpub. Excellent porter, one of my faves this year. Beerapprentice (130), Hopatcong, New Jersey, USA

Looks amazing at first glance. Great aroma of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is similar to the aroma-coffe, malts, maybe a bit of vanilla.
