It’s scary to even think about this, but I think this Quad stacks up with the likes of Rochefort and Westy. This is just as complex, just a flavorful and just as enjoyable as the best. This quad pours a light brown color with a slightly reddish hue. There wasn’t much of a head, but of what there was, it was a dark tan color and left a small trace of lacing around the glass. The nose was full of yeast, sugar, dried fruit and a hint of alcohol. The body was very complex with mostly sweet flavors, like candy sugar, dates and a little caramel. Other flavors included a little earth, bread and light hops. The finish was sweet with a definite tone of alcohol, but mixed with more flavors of brown sugar and toffee. I definitely think this stacks right up there with the best quads out there. And with Westy being a little hard to find and this being so close, this is gonna turn into my quad-to-go-to. Very outstanding!

Bottle, sampled at Woodshop Quad. Pours a clear dark reddish-brown with a white ring. Best sweet aroma, of dark fruit, malt, figs, and brown sugar. Big sweet taste, of dried fruit, malt, figs, and dates. Lingering sweetness. Very smooth and tasty.

Bottle at The Woodshop Quad, in the first grouping of 6 or so quads, the one I hadn’t had. Pours reddish brown with a tan ring. Nose is sweet, and ruddy, and rich. Taste is smooth and rich, super nice, very smooth, likely a few years old.

Flat whisky brown. Aged malt, powdered sugar, and boozy notes showing in the nose. Sweet toffee and aged malt flavors on the mouth. Somewhat wet mouthfeel but most likely due to this probably being a few years old.

Bottle shared by Crosling, thanks Nick. Poured a deep, hazy brown color with some deep red highlights around the edges and a moderate beige head that diminished to a layer and left sheets of lacing. Aroma of plum, fig, red grape, raisin, some brown sugar, caramel, light yeast, and a hint of alcohol. Smooth, sweet entry with some brown sugar and hints of soft red grape lead into a nice plum flavor with undertones of caramel and fig and finishes with a decent yeastiness that provides a soft dryness and a bit of apple on the finish. Low carbonation, smooth on the palate. One of my favorite American Quads.

750 mL bottle. Dark burgundy color with ample creamy foam. Excellent purity in the nose with authentic Belgian aromas of dried cherry, prune and raisins. Flavor is very well balanced, very sweet and complex. Notes of brown sugar, raisins and cherries. Really a terrific beer. Love both the Quad and Oak Aged Quad.
