Bottle courtesy of GMCC2181 and shared at the 7/5/08 Bocky Bash locals tasting. Pours a hazy brown with zero head. Nose is alcohol, brown sugar and molasses. Taste is much like the nose – sweet and alcoholic. Medium mouth feel. Decent brew – thanks Gabe.

Bottle: Dark in color, good lacing and a small head. Nice aroma of spices. Super smooth, smoother than the oak aged quad! Taste is raison, brown sugar, spices and a hint of alcohol but just the right amount. Sweet taste. Perfect texture not to light, not to thick. Low carbonation. Over all very impressed!

bottle from hopdog. Agree with previous rater- bubblegum dominates. Also some dark fruit. Very sweet, but still good. If I had to do it all over again, I’d sit on this one for a year or more.

I was quite underwhelmed by this beer. Strong notes of bubblegum overpower this beer. Sweet and astringent this one could be missed.

Blind tasting at Papsoe. Reddish brown colour with a little head. Aroma of fresh apples and dried fruit, malt caramel and sweetness. Flavour of dried fruit, berries and very sweet alcoholic. Ends up little sour but most sweet and alcohol.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber/muddy brown with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of dates, plums, prunes, brown sugar and candied sugar. Taste is plesantly sweet with hints of brown sugar and dark fruit. Excellent !!

My Bottom Line:
Velvety raisins are taken into caramelization just as chocolate, hazelnuts and bready yeast come around to gel this sumptuous, portly Quadrupel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the brownish mauve.
-Alcohol is very well hidden for a beer this size. It is present, but far from a ruling presence.
-Potent yet smooth, this is truly one for those glee-filled meditative moments.
-Carbonation is rather low, which helps to bring out the roaming port wine impressions.

Bottle from the Wilmington brewpub.

From a 750mL Bottle. Generously shared by cquiroga. Somewhat hazy, hazelnet shell colored pour with a thin layer of wispy white head. Rich, spicy, dark fruit aroma that oozes with notes of raisins, honey, and a well carmelized, nutty, doughy dimension similar to pecan pie. Flambeed brown sugar glaze and brandied figs. Hints of yeasty cinnimon and clove spice peek in, but the luscious dark fruits steal the show. Full bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Definitely on the sweet and heavy side - could use a bit more carbonation and fleet footing to lift the flavors off the palate in the more traditional Belgian "style", but the flavors left on the tongue are quite tasty. Brown sugar, seared dates, and chewy raisin fruits coat the palate before it dries up a smidgen with a finish of woody walnut husks. Thanks for sharing, Chris!
