Commercial Description:
This is a filtered American wheat beer, with a touch of natural raspberry flavor and aroma. Before you pass this one over because it’s a “fruit” beer, try it on a hot summer afternoon. Our brewers even admit it’s their beer of choice during those hot summer beer festivals.

(Rating #2248)

Draft at Willmington. Poured a hazed dirty light brown with a small off white bubbly head. Aroma and flavor was all raspberry syrup with no wheat, hops, or yeast detectable. I assume IH brews this for a certain crowd but if I was a brewer I would rather not drink with those people then brew yet another lousy over fruited beer.

(11/8/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in North Wales. Aroma of artificial berries juice and saccharine. Sweet flavor with a bit of raspberries candies, medicines and soap. Medium-bodied.

On tap at Newark and Wilmington brewery. Pours a light golden color with a huge raspberry presence in the nose. Mouthfeel has a carbonated bite to it. Smooth mild grassy maltiness, finishes very sweet. This one needs more hops to balance and bitter it and less of a sweet raspberry flavor.

Wilmington. Subtle fruit aroma with some mustardy tones. Clear, fairly light, no head. Dry, tart, lightly astringent, a little perfumy-tasting. Prominent raspberry but not overbearing. Light body, watery. Not the best I have had.

Tap@WestChester. Aroma of fresh raspberries and bread. Smooth fruit taste that wasn’t overpowering. Nice example !

(On tap in Lancaster) To its credit, not too sweet, but I still don’t like it. Another plus is that it is coarse tasting; the sourness has a coarse quality to it that makes it not unpleasant. But I don’t like rasberry beers and this one isn’t good enough to overcome this fact. Thumbs down.

Aroma of faint lemon and little else. Mouthfeel is little different than the light lager. Tastes of sour raspberry and vinegar.
