Enjoyable to drink though. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 11, 2008 nothing really "wheaty" about it, this beer smells and tastes like raspberry soda. a pinkish gold color is the only thing that really tells you that it is actually beer and not some malt liquor infused fruit juice. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Syrupy raspberries burst from the well-fed pale maltiness and the judicious leafy hopping takes this Raspberry Wheat to uncommonly appreciable levels for the "style".
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A coat of foam tops the hazy blond.
-I honestly expected a lot less interesting of a beer and was thus pleasantly surprised; so many of these Raspberry Wheat concoctions are mailed in...
-Some wheaty tartness hooked itself onto the raspberry fruitiness.
-The aroma was full of raspberries, but of the sugary kind.
-The slow carbonation helped the palate to analyze the rich maltiness.
-I’m not sure the base beer fits with the raspberries, but that’s just me.

hazy yellow, wispy white head,
sweet malt aroma with a pronounced raspberry tartness,
rich sweet honey malt flavor provides a good foundation for a lot of raspberry flavor, tartness from the raspberry balances the honey sweetness, light bitter finish

She said, the raspberry has a stronger smell than it does taste. It didn’t. I couldn’t taste much else besides the raspberry and my friend with me said it tasted like overflavored cough syrup. I don’t really like "flavored" beers, much the same as I don’t like flavored coffee. It seems like any company that advertises a flavor in the name of a product feels the need to way overdo that flavor...whether it be beer, coffee, spaghetti sauce, etc. TOO MUCH RASPBERRY. Their discription is perfect, tastes like a wheat beer w/a raspberry flavor. Natural flavors which blend well, has some spice to it. Wasn’t sure @ this one, but ended up enjoying it. Nice change of pace; I wouldn’t drink it all the time.
