ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Jun 20, 2007 Updated: Jun 21, 2007 Bottle from kmweaver. Slightly hazy, rusty brown body with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is moderately smoky, some jerky, hickory and light bread. The flavor is lightly smoked, again it is mostly a sweet hickory that I’m getting, some grainy-ness, clean yeast and light grass. Medium/light body is deceptively hefty for a 3.8% beer with moderate carbonation. Really terrific. Thanks for picking this up for me Ken.
shigadeyo (1498), Southwest Ohio Area, Alabama, USA Nov 19, 2008
10/30/2008: The aroma of Iron Hill (Wilmington, Deleware) Rauchbier has a raw, meaty smokiness, with some fruity maltiness and caramel in the background and a very slight hint of oxidation. Sweet, caramel malt and slight roastiness is contained in the front of the flavor, smoke in the middle, followed by a some fruit and caramel. This beer has a slighly dry finish and a good balance of sweet and smoke. It has fine bubbles, crackle-finish lacing, and a hazy golden amber color with a foamy off-white head. Overall, it is more sweet and less smoky than I would prefer for a Rauchbier, but still quite good (although very over-priced!).

One pint, 9.6 ouce bottle shared at the weekly Party Source gathering. This bottle was sent to me by jasonmech77. Thanks Jason! Rating #78 for this beer...
Tmoney99 (3720), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 18, 2008 Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate smoke malty aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met. Beerlando (1439), Orlando, Florida, USA May 9, 2008 Courtesy boboski. Pours a muddy looking sienna brown color with a small, foamy, off-white head. Thin, jagged lines of lacing are scatterred about the glass. The nose is comprised of fairly neutral, lightly caramelized malts that allow a distinct beechwood smoke to take top billing. There is a light saltiness, sort of like ocean air, as well as an underlying tannic fruitiness, reminiscent of apple skins. Flavors are well integrated, with the smoke showing at just the right level of intensity to compliment the subtle, caramelized, fruity sweetness. Light to medium bodied, smooth, and ridiculously drinkable. Finishes on the dry side. Refreshing. This served as a perfect compliment to the sushi I was eating at the time, playing on the smoky saltiness of the soy sauce in particular. Just a very nice, quaffable rauch. Good stuff. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Mar 10, 2008 Blind tasting at Papsoe. Hazy amber colour wirh a white head. Nice aroma of smoke, malt and caramel. Flavour of malt, caramel and hints of smoke. Ends up refreshing with notes of smoke and without being too much. ThomasE (5075), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 19, 2007 Amber colour with a white head. Malty, light fruity sweet aroma with hints of smoke. Smoky, light sweet flavor with fruity notes. Dry and smoky finish.
