miketd (375), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 11, 2008 Thanks to MrBendo for the bottle. Pours dark copper with a decent off white head. Aroma is malty, sweet, caramel and biscut. Nice roasty caramel flavor along with earthiness and a tad sweet. Decent body. Smooth drinking and it hid the alcohol very well.
MatSciGuy (261), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 11, 2008 [Bottle] shared by Stine. Pours a hazy burnt caramel with a medium beige head. Aroma is alcohol, peat, a little smoky, and raisins. Light mouthfeel, peat, alcohol hidden well, and caramel with a dryish finish. WeeHeavySD (1866), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 25, 2008 750ml I’ve had in the cellar for a while and I can’t recall who sent it to me originally. Shared with my gf Cyn. Pours dark amber ruby brown with a big head. Nose is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet and malty with lots of rich caramel and a touch of smoke and roasted malts. This is a yummy Scotch Ale. Hophead22 (265), Redlands, California, USA Sep 14, 2008 750ml bottle courtesy of the very generous Swolf3, thanks Steven. Poured a dark murky orange/brown, light tan head. Heavy malts on the nose, some dark fruityness as well. Very light tasting, but in a good way, very tasty, nice and malty. JK (2501), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Aug 26, 2008 Big thanks to Stine for sharing this one. Lots of peat in the aroma. Very dark, with low carbonation. Sweet malt, and more earthy, peaty flavor. Some smoke, as well as sugar and malt. Very good, and one of the better examples of the style. bitbucket (1572), Kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 4, 2008 750, corked and baled, courtesy ??? at the recent tasting. Pours clear dark amber with an off-white head. Caramel, raisins, and a dash of citrus on the nose. Nuts, caramel and bread crust taste. Dry peaty finish.
