DruncanVeasey (1802), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Oct 1, 2008 Cask, Victoria Inn (Atomic brewery tap) Autumn Fest 08. Dull and headless orange amber. Orvalish gooseberry jam aroma. Earthy, dusty English Vs continental hop juiciness. You couldn’t call it citrus, more dampened, herbal, fleshy... earthy but clean. Conditioning well intact despite the appearance. Octo wouldn’t shut up rattling about it. Bread and more gooseberry. Hops definitely struck a (fresh) Orval note- the Goldings jam juiciness without the intensity of IBUs. Enjoyed this- it stood out as quite an individual variation on a hoppy pale bitter, as distinct from the interminably tasty US hop confections normally labelled GA. harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 21, 2008 Cask gravity at SIBA BF, Paddock Wood. Clear gold, thin white head. Not a great golden ale, good condition, decent citrus hop. Very drying, some fruit salad flavours. OK. MesandSim (4583), Highgate, Greater London, England Sep 8, 2008 A Mes rate: cask at the Hop Farm festival.
Bright gold with no head. Ok, just run with me here ok, it smells pretty much like a gass fire that has just been turned on. Honestly. Nice bright hoppage in the flavour with a tasty malt base. Good herbal notes and a very well balanced finish. Not bad at all. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Mar 25, 2008 Cask conditioned @ Hole in The Wall, Portsmouth.
Blonde. Some leafy hop presence. A little sweetness to the malt adds a bit
more body than the invincible. Still got the same background yeast
flavour. Much better than their other beer but not good despite that. Fin (2448), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Mar 22, 2008 Cask at The Hop Pole pubs Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury in the company of Loz, Chris O, Ruth, Barry, Lynn 21-03-08 Poured warm golden in colour bit hazy, not the best looker. No condition to this beer at all tasted bit furry, some sourness, there may have been citrus (as per commercial description) but I didn’t get much and there was some sweetness but I just found this all too forgettable.
