Aroma is very strong and smokey, with notes of chocolate and roasted malt. Very full flavoured, lots of smoke, some chocolate, meat, and wood. The body is very rich and full with a dry finish. Very goood! Savvy1982 (318), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice dark brown, heading towards black. Nice tan head, if a bit thin. Actually, Nice but a bit thin would perfectly describe this beer; great nose, ashes and licorice and roast and smoke, both of the woodsmoke and the smoked meat varieites, plus mocha and acidity. Palate is smooth and complex, but hardly mouthfilling. I’d love to try this beer if they turned it up to 11, but as it is, it’s incredibly tasty but a shade too light. douglas88 (1626), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 A cool 500 ml bottle bought over goodbeer.jp, brought from Japan thanks to my wife. Thick brown glass, a hefty bottle. Pours a completely black color with a thick medium brown head. The aroma is smoke, roasted malts, slightly sour notes. The flavor is really nice; initial sweet milky chocolates, a strong smoke comes in, heavily roasted iron-like malts, a nice sweet smoky finish. Easygoing and quite nice. Dry. I’d love to make it out to Mie-Ken someday. Theis (3760), Denmark
