SDbruboy (1822), San Diego, California, USA Oct 24, 2004 Updated: Nov 18, 2004Re-Rate 22 oz. bottle sent to me as a replacement from the Island Brewing people. The firlst bottle I had (from BevMo) was obviously bad so I’m pleased to have a fresh one to rate. Pours rich copper color with a large, creamy off-white head that diminished slowly and left nice lacing. Aroma is pleasant, rich caramel malty nose with plentiful floral and citrus hops. Flavor of this one is good - toasty malts, honey, grapefruit hops and a lingering pucker in the finish. Medium body and creamy carbonation. Quite a nice IPA afterall. And the people at the brewery were responsive and apologetic for the bad bottles that have gotten out there. frankR (143), Davis, California, USA Nov 28, 2004 Nose of grapefruit and spicy hops. Initial flavor is piney/grapefruit hops, finishes with a sour acidic tangy flavor, juniper berries, rye maybe thrown in aswell? Quite interesting stuff, worth checking out again. Looks like there were a lot of bad bottles going around. I don’t think I got a bad one. burpfrank (289), carpinteria, California, USA Feb 10, 2007 This had an average head.Color nice amber.Had on tap at brewery. It had a decent hoppyness to the brew.A bit tad boring.Medium body for an IPA.This a somewhat good IPA,but not a great one. There are lots of IPA’s that are far better.Worth a taste. BeerLimey (1875), California, USA Aug 21, 2005 Clear reddish amber hue. Fruity pineapple grapefruit aroma. Spicy hoppy grapefruit flavor, underlying bicsuity malt provides good balance, touches of trpical fruit, dryish citric finish. dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Apr 16, 2005 GABF 2004 Deep amber in color with a small white head. Aroma of ctirus, grapefruit and pine. Flavor is moderately bitter and finishes dry.
