elihapa (382), Hawaii, USA Jul 17, 2008 On tap, part of sampler. Pours a dark amber, quite attractive. Aroma of wood and caramel/chocolate malt. Creamy body that provides backbone to a smooth combination of caramel, malt, soil, and some flower. I enjoyed this one.
Charlzm (247), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 19, 2008 Draft at brewery, consumed 02/18/08. Medium brown pour. No aroma to speak of. No head, no active carbonation. (I must note here I tried a four ounce sample, so all prior traits noted might be different in a pint glass or from a bottle). Moderate malt sweetness, followed by a stronger piney hop finish. Unremarkable mouthfeel. The best of this brewer’s batch. xnoxhatex (791), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 18, 2007 Bomber. Hazy red brown color with substantial beige head. Aroma is bourbon, caramel toffee, very nice. Toffee and dark roast flavor with lots of complex sugars and dark fruit. Medium bodied and creamy, a very nice old ale, was pretty surprised that the ratibgs are so low for this beer as I really couldn’t see anything wrong with it and actually found it very nice. Hairofthedog (417), San Diego, California, USA Dec 16, 2007 First off, the bottle damn near exploded on me when I opened it. I got this a year ago from SLO. I should have been suspicious when I noticed "Keep refrigerated" on the label. I lost over half the bottle in just foam. By the time it was done erupting, I could smell the definite aroma of soury tartness leading me to believe that it was infected. It says that it is supposed to be an old ale on the bottle. The aroma had nice dark fruit and a musky sour to it. Hints of caramel were also prevelant. The other beers that I got from this brewery were the same way. It poured into the sink a nice cloudy reddish brown color with miles of lasting head. Dickinsonbeer (2554), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 13, 2007 Pours medium to deep amber with slight haze and thin head. Aroma is solventy esters, and DMS with some paint thinner and off stale hops. Chocolate in the flavor nutty some toffee and caramel with more fruity esters, fusel alcohols. Thin and weak finish.
