Commercial Description:
A dark, dry stout brewed using pale, crystal, chocolate and wheat malts together with un-malted roasted barley. Golding and Bramling Cross hops are used for the bittering, giving a fruity edge to the dry bitterness that comes from using highly roasted malts. Late additions of Bramling Cross hops to the boil add another dimension to the aroma of the beer.

Bottle. Black with a beige head. Aromas are earthy and spicy decent hopping. Some chocolate and dark chocolate bitterness. Roasty with liquource and some herbal notes. Flavours are dry, earthy roast malts with some fruitiness. Fairly bitter but spritzy and fresh. An easy drinking stout,

Cask (Peterborough BF 2007) Rich coffee aroma. Dark, with a thin but tight beige head. Strong burnt malt tate, pleasantly bitter and very refreshing despite its burntness.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Peterborough BF. A black coloured stout with a nice frothy tan colourd head. The aroma is inviting, with light roast and a little lactic character. The taste is roast, tasty and smooth. Again a little lactic character. Not overflavoured just very tasty.

Cask (handpump) Derby BF (Summer) 2006. One of the first beers on in the Darwin Suite and I was one of the eager bods to be first in line to try it. Fantastically dry, has a dessicating touch that’s lifted slightly by a smokiness that has a faint echo of the island’s well-known south coast whiskies. As black as your hat, if your hat’s very black. A good dry stout.
