Bottle at Chaucer’s-Deep mahogany liquid sits under a frothy white cloud of head. Nice pretty lace. Nose is earthy, quite malty with nuts and toasty oak, a bit of hops. The flavour profile is nutty malts and caramel meets some mild hops, add some smoke. Creamy, easy to drink.

Bottle @ Smokeless. Almost opaque deep red. Lovely frothy white head and scattered lacing. Nutty malt aroma. Very much like fresh ground nuts. Decent carbonation level, more carbonated than the Black Cuillin but still really mellow and quaffable. Peat and smoke permeate the body. Has a nice roasted aftertaste.

Hazy dark red-brown. Loose, thin head. The aroma is earthy, slightly caramelly with faint whiskeyish notes. Soft, caramelly body with more speyside whisky accents. Rounded malts and a slightly earthy hoppiness. Creamy body. Nourishing. Nicely done.

Tried in bottle form. The beer pours a brown/bronze colour with a head that shows poor retention. The nose has some faint notes, but these are very disapointing. However it gets better from here. An initial taste of light hops followed by nuts and a biscuit flavour, this was finished off with a dry aftertatse. The aftertaste lingered for a lot longer than most beers, this led to me savouring this for longer.

500 ml bottle. Dark rerddish brown colour, thick off-white head. Slightly roasted malty aroma with dark fruits. Mild flavour of roasted malts, a little sweet, not much hoppiness to speak of. Light-bodied and a bit watery.
