ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 26, 2007 Growler from the brewery. 2007 version. Light chestnut brown with a moderately thick beige head. Aroma of flowery hops, walnuts, and a slight fruitiness. Pretty hoppy for an Amber, slightly citrusy upfront with pine tar in the finish. Sweet nuttiness throughout, with just a hint of roastiness, though that may be a combination of the nuttiness and the pine playing tricks on me. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Apr 28, 2004 12 oz bottle. Medium copper, quite clear; massive forever-lasting head...gushing, in fact (infection? uh oh). Light grapefruity aroma with a bit of chewy woody malt. Odd but interesting flavor -- cherry cola comes to mind, and a bit of oakiness, grapefruit near the end. Medium body, too sweet and odd overall...doesn’t really work though I give it points for creativity. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Apr 6, 2004 Aroma is vile. Smells like vomit. Pours a cloudy copper/amber with a huge off-white head. Watery with sweetness in the middle. Watery finish with puke aftertaste. This is hideous. MaBeer1972 (421), Leominster, Massachusetts, USA Nov 24, 2003 The appearance is somewhat pale amber and isn't that impressive. The aroma is neutral, but slightly fruity. The flavor is almost of grapefruits, with a smack of hoppiness. The finish is on the bitter side. Admirable. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 23, 2003 Starts off with a fruity, citrusy sweet aroma. The appearance is dark orange with a good sized white head - good lacing. Has a hoppy - citrusy bite to it - more akin to a California PA than an upstate NY amber. HInts of caramel mellow out the hoppines a bit - but still a litle too hoppy for an amber. Palate is a bit tonque numbing. Better than other Ithacas I have tried thus far though. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Oct 3, 2003 Fairly dark amber colour with a perfect sized light tan head - spot on for the style! Aroma consists of hop pellets, mushrooms and a bit of yeast - ODD! Medium-bodied; Hoppy taste with some astringent characteristics and a strong malt background. Aftertaste shows almost nothing but a mild hop and malt taste. Overall, about average for the style. Not great, nor bad! I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 2-October-2003. Libeerian (209), Garner, North Carolina, USA Aug 26, 2003 This amber's got a hop/caramel aroma. The flavor is nicely balanced with hop flavor and malt, the bitterness isn't severe. Very pleasant. andy609 (143), Auburndale, Massachusetts, USA Aug 6, 2003 Aroma remeniscent of an English Pale Ale. Big head that shrinks to nothing quickly with minimal lacing. Body color is just as adverstised, amber. A nice hoppy beer upfront with the malts coming through in the long finish.
