Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

Pours a clear red color with a slightly off white head. Aroma of malts, hops, and a bit of caramel. Flavor of caramel, hops, and a touch of sweetness. Very nice beer!

Tap @ Ginger Man, Norwalk, CT. What first impressed me was the nice dark amber hue of this IPA. Wjhile the hoppy flavor was modest and lacking of undertones, the palate was very wide. I liked the combination of hop bitterness and sweetness. One of the better IPAs I’ve tried.

Bottle at The Comet. Poured clear reddish copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy hoppy and sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. This is a solid drinkable brew.

Pours deep amber with a small beige head. Aroma is light, but pleasant, with sweet caramel, and piny hops. Flavor follows the aroma well with piny hops and caramel upfront, and a thick bready finish. Palate is medium with a bit of lingering bitter- sweetness. Just a bit watery though. Wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not amazing, but a fairly solid ipa none the less.

FIRST OFF I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE BOTTLING AND THE GIMIC FOR THIS BEER IS GREAT EVEN SURPPASSING THE ARROGANT BASTARD ALE. THE PACKAGING IS LIKE A 70’S B-MOVIE POSTER WITH A LIZARD BLOWING FIRE, TOTALLY RIDICULOUS AND AWESOME. POURS A CLOUDY AMBER RED WITH A LITTLE HEAD SMELLS DELICIOUS AND LOOKS GREAT. TASTES LIKE A TYPICAL BITTER IPA BUT LACES THE MOUTH WELL WITH FLAVOR NO REAL FRUITY FLAVOR LIKE MOST TYPICAL IPAS HAVE. THIS IS A REAL BEER DRINKERS BREW THUMBS UP.

Deep, rich amber red color. Nose is hops and malts. Flavor is.....wait for it......hops and malt. Really good balance on this one. Kind of reminds me of Calico.

Pours dard read with white head. This is exactly what it says it is. Hoppy and malty at the same time. A very good and unique red ale.
