Commercial Description:
The name CascaZilla is a play on both the name of our local Cascadilla Gorge and the monster amounts of Cascade hops in this beer. This red ale gets its distinctive color from a healthy portion of caramel malt, which also lends some body and sweetness to the beer. The predominant flavor and aromoa of this beer, however, is brought to you by the fresh American hops. If you haven't done so yet, treat yourself to Ithaca Beer's new monstrously hoppy Red Ale.

12oz from the foodery. Pours orangey with a big tan head. Nose is sweet and hoppy with lots of malt. Taste is quite well hopped and decently balanced with the malt character.

This beer is no soo much an IPA but a red ale. Hoppy and a good color, it is a nice beer. Not too bitter but just enough to keep it consistent with the theme.

Very solid red IPA. Red, amber in color with a very thick frothy head. Sessionable, drinkable, balanced, enjoyable.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased from Anderson’s in Toledo.
Glass: Poured into a plastic hotel cup.
Appearance: Poured a dark amber/red color with a one finger off white head.
Aroma: Citrus and caramel malt dominate the aroma, with hints of yeast and sugar present.
Flavor: Caramel malt backbone with a strong citrus finish.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel.
Overall: Solid IPA. Could use a little more bitterness, but solid.

12oz Bottle. Light mint and orange aroma, backed with a little fresh crusty rosemary bread and some fresher hop oils. Pours a suprisingly dark, clear red - almost bloody. Head buils strong, with a fresh white soapy pale stone. Flavor is here and there, somewhat savory and a bit oldish. The hops are definitely a bit faded, and there’s a surprising amount of yeast character. The malt starts to show a little and it’s nice, bready, nutty, and crackery. Mouthfeel is full and rich. I think I would fatigue of this after one or two, but there’s a unique range of flavors that makes it alright. Nothing too special.

Copying from tasting notes. Bottle from coopers. Poured a clear copper color with a medium off whit head that lasted awhile. Aroma is nice floral hops and some sweetness of malt. Taste is very well balanced with hops and malt sweetness. Pretty good/

Pours a clear coppery red color with a moderate white head and good retention. Aroma is pine and citrus hops. Flavor is nicely balanced with some sweet malts and vanilla notes to go along with the hops. Slightly dry mouthfeel, but very drinkable. I liked this one.

On tap at the Dinosaur BBQ place in Rochester, NY. Poured a nice ruby/brown color with a thin white head. Aroma was some cascade hops, but not nearly as hoppy as iwas expeciting. A lot of malt aromas came through, some good biscuit and bread with some caramel undertones all mixed in with an apparent but not overwhelming hop character. Flavor was more of the same, but if anything the hops were tamed down even a little more. The beer was also just a touch on the watery side. Pretty tasty all around though.
