Commercial Description:
Made with 100% New York State hops. India Pale Ale (IPA) is a style of beer renowned for its hop character. Some modern brewers have taken this tradition to the next level with the "Double IPA". What better way to parade the potential of NYS hop farming than with our new Double IPA. Hop farming once thrived in New York State. In the early 1900s, 95% of all hops used in the US were grown here in New York. However, soon the combination of crop disease & prohibition put an end to local hop growing. There is a new movement afoot to bring commercial hops back to NY. The Ithaca Beer Co. has teamed up with Pederson Farms (Seneca Castle, NY) to bring you this exceptional ale.

Bottle from Beastiefan2k. Thanks. Pour is a nice auburn with a small white head. Aroma of pine and citrus hops. Maybe a bit of booze. Flavor of resiny hops, bitterness, some caramel and sweetness. Just a tad watery, but a decent example of the style.

12-oz bottle received via trade with jah noth. Pours hazy orange with an average, creamy and rocky, off-white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (meal, cereal, caramel), heavy hops (perfume, flowers, citrus, pine), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of pineapple and peach. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. This one really hides its alcohol well and also features a nice balance of ingredients.

12oz. bottle: Pours a fiery amber with a foamy, stick head that just won’t quit. Fresh pine and citrus nose, with a healthy dose of caramel to back. Fresh, citrusy hops start the body, with a sugary sweetness creeping to balance. Very drinkable, but not really unique in any way.

12 oz bottle from Beastiefan2K; Light flowery hop nose; copper with a very small offwhite head; flavor of very light hop bitterness and caramel. Is this really a DIPA. I would rate it a mediocre IPA!

12 oz. bottle from slob - you rock! Pours cloudy amber, about the color of honey, with a fast diminishing, small off-white head that leaves spotty lace. Sweet malty aroma, ripe summer fruits, buttery citrus toffee, hints of dusty pine branches. Flavor is bold, with caramelly malts, sweet orange juice, evergreen needles, spicy, bitter herby hops, leave an astringent pucker and an alcohol warming lingers, but overall a little unbalanced for my tastes. Full body and crisp, tingly carbonation.

Pous a lightly clouded yellow/orange hue with a light white head. Aromas of pine, oranges and perfume. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with flavors of pine, a hint of chocolate and a mild hint of citus and nuts

12oz bottle. Golden orange hued ale. Lots of citrus flavor and a smooth malty sweet finish. Quite impressive, especially for 10%. Very crisp and floral, not as syrupy and thick as some Double IPAs.

Cloudy, dusty yellow, nice puffy head. Oranges and citrus, not overtly hoppy. Definite malt balance, a bit too much, as it could have more bite.
