It seemed to me to be more of a stout than a double bock. I expected the caffeine in the espresso to keep me awake, however I didn’t notice that it was present. This was a very nice beer that my son shared with me. I would definately try this again (if he buys it!) Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA

Nose of pungent lactid acid, cream, heavily deep roasted malts, of coffee / expresso richness. Initial taste of black coffee or expresso comparability. Moving into a creamy mid palate. FInishing with a heavily roasted malts and dark chocolate bitterness. Medium body. Great palate duration. Dry finish. Sticky lips and mouthfeel. Absolutely delicous and very drinkable. stefanje (953), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA

Pours a very dark brown color with amber highlights and a medium khaki head. The aroma is big with dark chocolate, coffee and a bit of smoked malts. The flavor is straightforward with mocha, a touch of cola and abundant dark biter chocolate. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is medium in duration with more linger coffee. Overall: This beer really appealed to me. I love it. Thanks Matthew. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Sweet aroma of caramel and chestnuts. Brown amber in color with a quickly disappearing head. Nice semi-sweet toffee flavor with roast chocolate and coffee. Some butterscotch. This is a great beer - definitely a proud moment for Ithaca and one of the better lagers I have had in awhile. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA

Hard to describe, but this is a beer that, if it was cheaper, I would go back to again and again. Warm and delish. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Poured into my Celebrator Glass, pours dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is pretty cool, very malty and lots of coffee. Taste is really nice with tons of coffee and some deep dark malts. This is a damn nice espresso doppelbock. Great beer. mbrandon2w (109), Worcester, Massachusetts, USA

The coffee flavor is balanced well with the malty bock flavor. Overall a great, interesting bock surprisingly well pulled off. A beer I’d have for breakfast. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Pours an oaque black with a short-lived tan head. Authentic coffee aromas that genuinely smell like froathy lattes, with deep roasted coffee beans and some lactic notes. This tastes very similar to an espresso cola I had in NYC, but I forget the name. The booze is hidden so well, you wouldn’t know it was there. The bitterness in the finish really rounds the beer out. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth with gentle carbonation that works well with the flavour profile. Overall, this is a very drinkable, sessionable brew that I would love with breakfast.
