Commercial Description:
A Robust American Ale brewed with four different rye malts, fresh centennial and crystal hops and our proprietary ale yeast. It is partly fermented in Tennessee rye whiskey barrels, then carefully blended. Enjoy the gorgeous ruby color, strong aromas of vanilla and black cherry, earthy flavors of nuts and oak and the warm, spicy finish.

Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a one finger light tan head that leaves goods lacing. Aroma of caramel, bourbon, oak, sweet malt, and vanilla. Taste is the same as aroma but more prominent. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good.

This beer’s 100th rating. Yay! 750 mL bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Thanks! Batch E!007. Pours a dark brown color with a huge offwhite head. Great head retention and lacing. The aroma is rye, chocolate, vanilla, oak and some earthy tones. Taste is rye whisky, oak, vanilla, chocolate and cherry. Smooth and full bodied. Quite nice.

bottle from blipp. Very nice brew. Perfect pour with perfect lacing. Looks too good to drink, but oh well. A drier, sweeter version of ba old numbskull. A greater percentage of ba brew in this one would be the only change I would make.

Pours light brown with a minimal head. Some hop in the nose, but mostly malt. Tastes peppery with some bread influence and a decent hop and malt balance.

Sample at the Columbus Ratebeer gathering at ogglethorp’s 11/20/08: Batch #E!007 courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer is a murky reddish brown color with a wispy off-white head that diminishes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and nuts plus a touch of vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of oak, earthy malt and vanilla. Some fruit in the background as well. The finish is malty with hints of rye and vanilla, and leaves a lingering dark fruit aftertaste. Overall an interesting take on the style that I enjoyed.

June 2007 production. Wonderful integrated concoction of bourbon, rye, chocolate, almonds, almond milk, hazlenut, hops. This all comes through nicely in the smell and the taste. Well balanced. Cola dark black with ruby highlights, rich full mouthfeel, exceptional.
