Commercial Description:
Imperial American Extra Strong and Special Double Red Ale. Our anniversary beer, TEN is brewed with too many malts to list and an excess of American hops, including several additions during fermentation. Enjoy the russet color, aggressively hoppy aroma and flavor, rich body and fiery finish.

Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours amber with a large off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops with tons of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma but not as prominent. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and very smooth alcohol. A damn fine brew.

Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to Ryan for sharing! This was one of my real highlights of the evening. A truly delightful strong red that gets off to a fantastic start with a thick and creamy pour. It gives off an aroma of spicy hops and thick malts, and is just so damn inviting. Just a massive flavor of complex malts mingling well together, some real bite from the hops, and even a trace of smoke in the finish. Very good stuff.

6-27-08 bottle thanks to kmweaver!
Thick dark brown with a nice ivory head. Smell is sweet caramel and quite appealing. Flavor is nice and balanced and ideally sweet (not that boring caramel sweetness - but a nice balanced malt that complements the beer very nicely). So smooth and flavorful and enjoyable. Thanks Ken!!

Cask on tap at the Empire State Brew Fest in Syracuse. This beer tasted like liquid malt. Tasty, tasty hops. The hops malt mixture was absolutely incredible. Would buy again soon.

On tap at Capone’s got it as a 4oz. sample. Very malty, nicely hopped. Deep red/amber in color thick white head. Tastes a lot like a big IPA, malt balances it very, very well. Very good.

On tap at Capone’s, served in a snifter. Dark amber with garnet highlights with a creamy white head. Smells spicy, lemon, grapefruit, and pine. Medium bitterness but with a big hop flavor. I can’t believe this isn’t considered a double IPA. Has a strong malt backbone as well. Very full in the mouth with a noticeable touch of alcohol. Excellent.

Bottle shared by pepsican. Fruity cocktail aroma of pineapple, grapefruity hops, and alcohol. Poured a hazy dark orange color. The head was off white with good retention and lacing. Sweet and medium bodied with moderate hop bitterness of about 5 out of 10. Malty caramel, citrus fruit (especially orange), and pineapple liqueur dominated the flavor. Despite the fact that no spices were added to this one, I thought there were also light cinnamon and coriander notes. Pretty good beer.
