Commercial Description:
Imperial American Extra Strong and Special Double Red Ale. Our anniversary beer, TEN is brewed with too many malts to list and an excess of American hops, including several additions during fermentation. Enjoy the russet color, aggressively hoppy aroma and flavor, rich body and fiery finish.

Bottle in trade from kmweaver. Thanks man!
Pours a rich dark opaque maroon with a nice creamy beige head. Smell is strong sweet red ale like malt and a touch of hops behind. Reminds me of Decadence 06 (Evil Dead Red) Nice sharp hoppy flavor and solid bitterness but a nice depth of sweet red malt balancing. Bursting with flavor, is nicely bittered and balanced and is so easy to drink. Awesome beer.

On draft at Capones. Poured a hazy copper color with a small white head. Aroma of grapefruit and piney hops with an underlying fruity sweetness. Tastes of citrus and piney hop, with a sweet malt base. It’s a bit fruity, sweet, and bitter all in one. It has a very distinct Ithaca taste which I get from a lot of the other Ithaca brews (maybe the yeast). This one was ok.

Tap at Capone’s. Pours a cloudy moderate copper color with a small white head. Citrus hops on the nose with some interesting sweetness going on also. Taste is of resiny citrus hops and some interesting fruity sweetness going on in there also, something I couldn’t place. Slight alcohol on the finish.

bottle: pours a cloudy, dark orange with a thick frothy head, aroma of hops, citrus, sweet fruit, chocolate?, taste of dark fruit, pretty malty with some slight bitterness. I’m pretty surprised that this is listed as an IIPA as it reminds me of a barley wine and even a belgian in some ways. Regardless, a very good brew.

ACBF 2008. Another solid offering that I wasn’t expecting much outta from Ithaca. A well-done DIPA, but nothing too special.

Draft: Poured an amber color with not much head. The aroma was that of hops and flowers. The flavor was really smooth, good hoppiness but didn’t leave me with a mouth full of bitterness. One of the best DIPA’s I’ve had. Excellent!

draft. dark brown amber. malty aroma, moderate bitter, slightly fruity. light to moderate body. good balance and no indication of the high abv. nice light carbonation. didn’t blow my socks off, and is not exactly what you expect from a iipa but it was a nice drink, for sure.

On tap at Capone’s - Darker reddish/brown color (at least for the style) with a small off-white head. Aroma is thick with lots of sugar and a good dose of floral/citrus hops, sugar, and some fruit./berries Flavor is a bit fruity, sugary, and bready and a lot hoppy with some sugary-citrus and a strong finish. Sweet and sticky. Good, but really belongs in the ASA or even barleywine category.
