The pour was amber-red, nice big head. The aroma was strong malts, dough and bread, fruits, floral, caramel, yeast. The flavor pretty much followed, sweet, alcohol sits smoothly. Mouthfeel a tad on the sticky side, but decent. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2009 750 ml bottle purchased at Friendly Mini Mart in Lakewood for a ten spot. This one pours nice and dark red with a thick and lasting foam head resting on top. The aroma is loaded with malt, cotton candy, clove, more sugar, a little bit of oak, vanilla and cherry. The mouthfeel is a nice viscous, gripping the tongue like some serious rugburn. This thing would stack up well against the gold standard of American Strongs: Double Bastard. This has a very similar flavor, but less citrus notes and more spicy malt action. I really like the crispness when it hits the tongue, its not too much, and it really grabs the tongue and holds on to it. cbkschubert (2013), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
