Commercial Description:
Imperial American Extra Strong and Special Double Red Ale. Our anniversary beer, TEN is brewed with too many malts to list and an excess of American hops, including several additions during fermentation. Enjoy the russet color, aggressively hoppy aroma and flavor, rich body and fiery finish.

Bottle #22 at Papsø’s blindtasting. Hazy orange red coloured with a medium sized off white head. Fruity aroma of caramel, berries, hops and pine needles. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, berries, oak, hops and pine needles. Dry hoppy finish.

From bottle, blind #22. Pours cloudy dark orange with a slowly diminishing off-white head. Dense hoppy and light fruity aroma. Dense wooden and citrusy fruity flavoured. Distinct sweet caramel malt flavoured base. Lasting wooden and fruity flavoured into the finish.

Hazy amber-red. Some tangerine/apricot hop aroma with chewy crystal malts and maybe a hint of chocolate. Kind of fizzy, though that helps with the body, which would otherwise be kind of sticky. Some fruitiness in the finish. It’s ok, but it certainly doesn’t distinguish itself in any way.

Hazy brown-red, thick fizzy tan head. Chewy aroma, earthy hops, minerals, soil, some cherry, dried fruit. Thick palate. Tastes as chewy if not more than it smells. Palate is coated with tannic, earthy hops and the heat of alcohol. It’s actually a nice hop profile, with mostly the rich soil-like flavors and textures but redeemed by the drying finish. The high alcohol really works to elevate what could be an awfully heavy beer. Pretty solid.

Old rating. Hop sludge on the side of the bottle. Pours red with a small white head. Decent hop profile and sweet. Not as hoppy as i was expecting. Pretty nice, solid overall.

Bottle. Aromas of cherries, other ripe fruits and malt. Hazed orange in color with a beige creamy head. Fruity and caramel malty flavors that finish with a decent grassy bitterness. Nice balance of malts, fruit, and hops.
