I was probably too drunk when i rated it, but I think it can still be informative in that I recommend it for someone who is very close to blacking out. After all, a wise man once told me that a rating is just a snapshot in time between a person and their beer and there is no telling what mood or state of mind a person may be in when trying to make their next beer selection.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2009 Bottle at the big holiday tasting in SLC. Pours a light mahogany color with a medium white head. The aroma is heavy malts and rich caramel. The flavor was similar; rich sweet burnt caramel, massive and dry malt flavors. Decent and straightforward. LinusStick (1847), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 8, 2009 This is a very tasty, if not one dimensional beer. Aroma was big and smelled like a melted caramel candy. Pour was a deep thick dark amber with a one finger tan head. Taste was a big malt bomb. A lot of thick chewy caramel with a roasted caramel aftertaste with nothing much else. No real hop flavor is detected other than just a hint which keeps the beer from being too sweet. Not much carbonation. A little more hops were needed in my opinion but good nonetheless. ditmier (1102), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Pours a darkish maroon, with a small off white head. Smells partyl sweet, big dark fruit presence right away, roast, and sugars also are in the mix here. The flavor was also a bit on the sweet side, however much more balanced than the nose. Lots of syrupy malts, and a much more noticeable hop presence that balances out some of that sweetnesswith a little bitterness. I thought this was pretty well done brew. Nothing overly complex about it, just tasty. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Botle - thanks oteyj. Beautiful deep auburn pour with a modest beige head. Sweet aroma is citrus, florals, and caramel. Tastes rich in maltiness with some citrus. The caramel is more noticeable and retains a dark, sweet presence. Some vinous notes and faded hops. Reminds me of Double Bastard, but mellower. Nice. FlssmrBrewAlum (1163), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2009 750 ml bottle courtesy of LilBeerDoctor. Thanks, Margaret! Pours a ruby murky rusty hue, glowing, highly hazed, a small offwhite beige like head that settles to a reliable size, not really dying at all, laces well. Aromas are a heavy dose of caramel and toffee malts, toasty, toffee, a bit of bread, moving to citrusy and floral hops, pretty toasty overall. Initial is pretty malty, caramel, toffee, and toasty malts, with a nice bread and bit of spice. The toastiness of these malts is quite striking, moving over to floral and delicate hops, bitter with some raisin like qualities. A pretty full mouthfeel, pretty good thickness. Not overly complex, but pretty tasty. thirdeye11 (551), Texas, USA

Nose of caramel, honey, bread and yeast. Taste is quite malty, caramel, yeast. Finishes smooth, biscuity and creamy. Nephilium (556), Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 3, 2009 This starts out with a blast of piny hops, that fades into an aroma of chocolate and biscuits. Pours a dark ruby red, with a huge fluffy light tan head. Flavor is a bit of sweet dark fruits, a touch of alcohol heat, and just a bit of bitterness in the finish. I wish I had a chance to try this one fresh... I don’t think the year was kind to it.
