Bottle poured into a snifter produced a finger worth of tan head that went to a nice coating of lace. The body was a standard black colored porter.
The aroma is nice and smoky with a light sweetness from the malts. Its flavor is well balanced between the roasted malts and sweet malt’s, with some earthiness thrown in for good measure. This brew has a good medium mouthfeel with good carbonation.
A nice smoked porter easy to drink and easy to enjoy

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2009 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Dark brown with lasting ring. Smoky woody chocolate aroma. Thin chocolate and wood smoke with a little fizz on the tongue. Somewhat bitter, slightly harsh finish. Lingering numbing mouthfeel. Not too good, but at least it’s a smoked porter. tgncc (820), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2009 This is a great beer. The aroma is outstanding, roasted malts, as if they just came off the campfire, complete with the smokiness of the campfire. Deep brown, cola like appearance, tan head. The flavor follows the aroma, with the taste of smoke, roasty malts, chocolate, coffee. The finish has a nice bitterness, mainly augmented by the roasty quality of the beer. Medium, slightly too thin on the mouthfeel. Very good beer just the same. michael-pollack (2697), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
