Commercial Description:
Rich and roasty, with a pleasant lingering smoked malt flavor. This brew is black in color, sports a fine light tan head, and weighs in at a healthy 6.3% alcohol by volume. The distinctive smokey character comes from the use of special beechwood smoked malt from Bamburg, Germany. The hefty malt character is nicely balanced with fresh U.S. Northern Brewer hops to round out this nutritious, tasty, brew! Available Fall / Winter

Light roasted malt aroma. Clear dark amber color with a small white head. Light flavor in the beginning with a smoky finish. Body is light starting off but gets better at the end.

This is a decent brew. Aroma is very roasty and smokey. Pours a nice brown-amber color with a thin tan head. Taste is of chocolate, smoke and roasted nuts. This style isn’t my favorite, but this one pulls it off well for me.

Sample at PCBF 08. Pours a deep brown with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma of cocoa, dark chocolate, light roast and a touch of hops. Flavor was roasty, nice chocolate notes, roasted malt and a touch of vanilla.

On tap at The Old Toad in Rochester. Poured very dark ruby with a beige head. Smoky and roasted malt notes with notes of chocolate. Medium body. Flavor is roasted malt, smoke, coffee, a hint of alcohol and just a bit of hops. Not great for a smoked beer but pretty good nonetheless.

Pours very dark brown with minimal tan head. Nice roasted and smoked nose. Flavor is thick malts. Definite roasted and smoked aspect there. Consistent flavor profile. Smooth liquid feel with a slightly biting carbonation. A nice porter to drink. Definitely worth trying.

Sampled on draft at Rivertowne Pub in North Huntingdon PA this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that faded fairly quickly. The aroma was lightly roasty, a bit metallic and had a hint of smoke. The flavor was sweetish, malty and had a moderate wood smoke element with a hint of roasty malts underneath. The smoke was nicely noticable but not overwhelming.
