j12601 (9), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA does not count Oct 11, 2008 Bottle with friends. Chocolate and coffee notes. Body is almost a little thin, and I kept getting a slightly burnt note towards the finish which was a little off putting, but overall a solid brown. Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2008 In short: Well done standard session nutty brown ale
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed very fresh, purchased directly at the brewery and drank the same day.
The look: Clear amber body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose it very nutty and with the rich maltiness it smells a bit like peanut butter. Well malted beer a bit on the oily side. Taste if pecan pie, toffee, pie crust, a bit buttery but it somehow works with the beer. Discreet hops with a light tea/tobacco presence. The finish is mainly the same as the attack with that nutty dessert flavour from start to finish. Not very tasty but this is exactly what a basic session nut brown ale should be. Nothing extraordinary, I don’t think it will win an award for best Brown Ale. And it sure won’t win an Oscar for best supporting actor. Miver (436), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2008 Draft at brewery. Poured a deep brown in color with a light tan head. Aroma was slightly roasty with nuts, coffee and toffee. Tastes of roasted coffee and a little nutty. Finish was dry and it had a decent mouth feel. wilkie (1092), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 14, 2008 Draught at Ithaca Beer Company in NY. Brown/red color, clear, beige head. Aroma is saccharin, sweet, caramel, roasted malts. Flavor similar, with some chocolate up front. ucusty (1215), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 8, 2008 Dark brown pour with thin tan head. Coffee and nuts on the nose. Hops, chocolate, and filbert nuts. Well balanced
