Commercial Description:
The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice about this complex, malty brew. A delicate blend of chocolate malt, caramel malt, and four other malts brings to this beer a chocolatey sweetness, and hints of coffee. The malt character is subtly balanced with Northdown and Fuggles hops.

Deep brown, tan head. Sweet malts in the aroma, light chocolate, no nuts. Flavor starts out ok, malty, but gets some odd off flavors creeping in. Medium body, I wouldn’t say as thin as others have said. Decent but the flavor doesn’t do it for me.

I’m not a Nut Ale type of guy, but this was a gift from j_b. At 1st taste I did not like it, but it grew on me as I drank it. I started to forget my bored kids who are out of school for the summer and I mellowed out. The after taste was alittle tinny, but the hot fries I was eating helped there.

As I poured this and noted the beautiful copper color and perfect head expectations rose. The aroma was a bit understated, but acceptable for a brown ale. Nice malty body balances the hops nicely. Watery? Sugary? Not my batch. Not much of a finish. Just disappears with no aftertaste.

I’m not impressed with this somewhat bitter, astringent brew that leaves a weird lingering aftertaste. Flavors of tar and charcoal mixed with chocolate in a thin body.

Very nice beer, with notes of rich chocolate and roasted malt, and a very pleasant after taste. I was quite surprised and impressed with this beer.

The poor guy who brought this back from Ithaca to Philadelphia swore we had a bad batch of this beer. After reading the reviews here he may of been right. This is a thin, watery brown ale.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium brown. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, toasted bread), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Off-flavors come out of the woodwork in the finish (sourness, metallic taint, grainy), and the aroma is vague and uninteresting. Lackluster-to-poor brown ale.

A very decent mild and nutty brownie. Quite smooth going down. Nice malty character. Above average stuff.
