Commercial Description:
The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice about this complex, malty brew. A delicate blend of chocolate malt, caramel malt, and four other malts brings to this beer a chocolatey sweetness, and hints of coffee. The malt character is subtly balanced with Northdown and Fuggles hops.

Blah...this is not very good. Aroma of caramel. malt. Pour was a dark brown with no head. Taste was very thin and watery. A bit of caramel malt with some chocolate, but the carbonation drowns out the weak flavor. Has a wierd gasoline aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle - Pours a dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick light tan head. Aroma and flavor is caramel malt and light chocolate. Light to medium body. A good Brown ale.

Bottle. Poured a nice rosy, red-tinged brown with a solid tan head of firm foam. The aroma is of milk chocolate and sugary milk. Richy and silky, this drinks damn near like choclate milk ... roasty, frothy, creamy. Hint of espresso, and maybe the cream on top of a mocha ... Otherwise, a nice drinking dark ale. Much creamier and smoother than an average American brown ale. Save for the desserts ... give me a chocolate chip cheese cake! (#3117, 9/30/2007)

Pours a clear but very dark ruby with no head. Nose is subdued. Just barely a touch of nut, but not much else really going on. Flavor is nutty, but oddly sweet at the same time. There isn’t much going on with that either. Unfortunately. Feel is kind of thick with a slight syrupy feel. When it first hit my mouth, my genera; reaction was - ick. Drinkable I guess. Could be sessionable. But overall it is pretty boring and leaves a bit to be desired.

on tap. Deep amber/brown in color. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, light bready notes. Taste is chocolate and caramel, with light notes of toffee. Malt character is lightly nutty. Moderately sweet for the style, with a light balancing bitterness. a decent session ale.

Pours a watery, slightly opaque deep brown with amber hues and a thin white head. Smells sugary and slightly malty, but not a whole lot of nose. Heavy malt and very sugary, but not a lot else for flavor. Slightly syrupy on the palate, otherwise smooth. I always find it funny when nut browns don’t taste a thing like nuts. Drinkable but not exceptional.

Bottle sampled from Capones. Pours amber/brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, spices, slight dark fruit detected, and mild roasted qualities. The flavor is caramel, spices, nuts, mild bitterness, and some slight chocolate.

Bottle from Capone’s. Fans of the Good Doctor know that next to the Imperial styles, nut brown is one of my favorites, and it seems to be getting harder and harder to come by this style these days. This one pours burnt sienna with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma is caramel/scotchy malt, wheaties, brown sugar, figs, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, and some rye/pumpernickel breads. The taste is very Wheaties-like, with brown sugar, fig, and the aforementioned nut trifecta, plus a dollop of maple syrup. This one tastes and smells a lot like Celebrator, but without quite as much palate heft and complexity.
