Commercial Description:
The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice about this complex, malty brew. A delicate blend of chocolate malt, caramel malt, and four other malts brings to this beer a chocolatey sweetness, and hints of coffee. The malt character is subtly balanced with Northdown and Fuggles hops.

Bottle from Capone’s. Fans of the Good Doctor know that next to the Imperial styles, nut brown is one of my favorites, and it seems to be getting harder and harder to come by this style these days. This one pours burnt sienna with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma is caramel/scotchy malt, wheaties, brown sugar, figs, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, and some rye/pumpernickel breads. The taste is very Wheaties-like, with brown sugar, fig, and the aforementioned nut trifecta, plus a dollop of maple syrup. This one tastes and smells a lot like Celebrator, but without quite as much palate heft and complexity.

Pours a thin tan head which is short lived, some spotty lace hanging around. Clear, amber hued brown ale. Nose is malty with caramel, faint roastiness, lightly nutty and a bit metallic. Body is med/light, decent carbonation level and just a touch oily. Dry malt flavors are gently nutty, caramelly, light chocolate, butterscotch, lightly earthy and minerally. Finish is almost dry, malty. Thanks to coldbrewky for the bottle, thanks Steve!

Great armoa of malt, nuts and caramel. Dark brown pour with a white head. Flavor of malt and brown sugar with almonds present. Too sweet though! One was enough, like drinking candy.

Not my favorite style but really dug this beer. Poured a dark watery brown in color with a thick white head that evaporated quickly. Nose is malty and slightly earthy. Flavor is malty sweet with a nice pungent peat flavor that lingers on the palate. Also picking out some nuts. Definitely hazelnut and something else my wife throws on salads--pecans I think. Medium body that is perhaps a touch watery. Perhaps a bit high in ABV but this would make a nice session beer.

this beer has little aroma. something like sour, sickly sweet beer. it looks like a cream soda right down to the carbonation. although it has a beige brown head that is somewhat creamy, foamy and dissapates quickly. the taste is quite decent for a brown ale and possibly good. licorice feeling from that soda carbonation but somehow the light nutty and chocolate tastes plum through with adequate creaminess. it does not taste oversweet. the malt and hop profiles are understandably meek. all in all not a bad brown at all. there is alcohol in the taste - and that is an oversight for a 5% brew in my mind as in this case it is a distraction. virtually an absent finish but pleasant enough.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber-brown color; fizzy, light-tan head with good retention and lacing. Pleasant, toffee and nuts in the aroma. Lively carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: nougat and nutty goodness upfront, followed by some bitter coffee and milk chocolate; very tasty, creamy malt profile; light hop presence. Medium, milk chocolate finish; slightly oily.

Cask at Barcade. Deep brown in color with a little off white head. Roasty malty aroma. Toffee caramel and roasty flavor. Chocolate notes. Butterscotch chocolatety finish. Medium bodied. Drinkable.
