Radek Kliber (3278), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 23, 2008 Bottle 355ml
Appearance: Clear ruby brown ale with medium tanned top. Nose : Mineral hints with sweet brown malts and unrefined sugar, touch of choco followed behind. Flavor/Palate : Frontal roasty character, earthy , black soil like sweetened with soft chocolate malt. Interesting chemistry presented on palate that failed to produce fine finish. Either way decent attempt.
checkmatei1 (215), Willow Grove, USA Jul 16, 2008 Draft: Poured a d dark brown color with not a lot of head. The aroma was of coffee and chocolate with malt and hints of hops present. The flavor was like a chocolate coverd hazelnut. Overall, this was a good beer. Slipstream (310), USA Jul 7, 2008 Fresh, yeasty aroma. Fairly hoppy and fizzy for a nut brown, with a taste of coffee and cereal. Malty sweetness and other flavors are more noticable at room temperature than refrigerated. Well-balanced and flavorful. Ithaca makes consistently good brews. Haslinger (450), Syracuse, New York, USA Jun 26, 2008 on tap at PJ Dorsey’s. See through brown with a smallish tan head. The taste is malt, with a bit of nut but the malt definitely comes thorugh. A solid beer that I would buy again if I was stuck in a bar that didn’t have much on the selection of of beer. jimhilt (1356), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 10, 2008 Pours a two finger light tan head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Almost clear amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Slight nutty nose. Flavor starts malty, nutty and just on the sweet side, brief hops at finish. $1.85 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. obxdude10 (1387), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 5, 2008 Opaque brown color, viturally no head at all, what was there fizzled out very quickly, it sounded like pouring a soda out of a can & into a glass, the beer just kind of sat there and fizzled like a soda too, aroma was sweet with notes of caramel, chocolate & sugar, very light body, flavors were horrible, very sweet and overloaded with chocolate, brown sugar & rye, the beer had a rather sour finish & aftertaste as well, I couldn’t finish the entire bottle it was that bad
