Commercial Description:
The rich mahogany hue of the Nut Brown is the first thing you will notice about this complex, malty brew. A delicate blend of chocolate malt, caramel malt, and four other malts brings to this beer a chocolatey sweetness, and hints of coffee. The malt character is subtly balanced with Northdown and Fuggles hops.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of j12601. VOTE J12601 Newbie of the Year! Pours a copper tinted dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, hay, light strawberry and other fruits. Taste is chocolate, nuts, bitter leafy hops with a bit of a pineapple-citrus bite. Light coffee as well. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown - I dove into this right after finishing the Gorges Smoked Porter, and other than the head being slightly lighter-colored, it looks pretty similar. The smell, however, is hardcore hazelnut. Even a little coffee bean in the back. Taste is the same, with a little peanut in the finish. Definite hazelnut, all the way through.

Bottle: pours dark brown. Toffee, caramel. Sweet and lively with a subtle hops at the end. Enjoyable and thirst-quenching but not that special. Moutfeel was a little soapy.

Very dark brown in color with a sand color head On nose there are scents roasted syrup, malt and a hint of cinnamon french toast. This is a full bodied ale with roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and coffee. The finish is shorter than I would like to see.

This nut brown ale poured a deep, almost black colour with a nice big, creamy brown head. To the nose there are scents of roasted malts, nuts, caramel and coffee. First sip was very roasted with coffee flavours very prodominant. Others of roasty malts and a little hop make this a very nice Nut Brown. Slightly watery and creamy at the same time. Roasted flavours stay on the palate for quite some time.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very malty, with detectable chocolate and caramel (maybe a roasted characteristic as well?). Taste is sweet, with malt up front, a bit of grain/hop in the middle, and a malt/chocolate/caramel/nut finish that pulls it all together. Not spectacular, but I really enjoyed this, and I’m surprised it rates so low.

Draught at the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Rich and fragrant aroma of sweet chocolate and caramel; slightly roasted. Full-flavored, sweet, dessert-like. Lots of chocolate, rich and thick, with nice balance. Luscious.
