I did not like this as much as the regular nut brown. The sweetness was replaced by a muted whiskey nuance. This was an experiment that missed the mark.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear amber brown body with a minimal off-white head that ran to a thin ring. Not much to the nose to signify that this was aged on oak, it is just about your average Brown Ale. Nutty, slightly grainy, a little bit of Nutella, and some light toasted malt. The flavor is minimally oaky as well. Slightly sweet with toasty nutty malt, a touch of graininess but not a whole lot. There may be a tad of raw oak on the late finish, but it is so little I do not think that I would have ever noticed if it were not on the label. Mouthfeel is light bodied, a little thin, with fizzy moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent drinker, but do not pick this up if you are looking for a wood-aged beer fix.

Ugh what a disaster. Aroma was weak but could actually pick up some roasted malt with a hint of oak and smoke. Pour was a boring deep brown with a light amber hue and no head. Taste was watery and thin. There’s some vanilla in there with a hint of oak and caramel malt. This beer just falls flat of what it’s trying to be.

12oz bottle. Like a the unoaked a solid drinker for me. Nice nutty roast aroma and taste. Didn’t find a lot of the oakiness, maybe just a little more mellowness.

Pours a mostly translucent deep brownish amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head. Aroma of mixed nuts, chocolate, toasted malt, like woodiness, a little earthy and lightly floral. Flavor of the same, some vanilla and oak, wood aging seems to add a nice complexity.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast, caramel, nuts, lightly earthy, smoke, and light oak. Tastes of caramel, nutty, roast, and light vanilla. Where’s the Oak (very subtle).

Poured a lightly hazy, red amber color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, light cocoa, nuts, caramel malts and a bit of vanilla oak. Taste of nuts, light roast, vanilla, citrus fruits, and caramel, with a lightly bitter finish. Thanks to Tom for sharing!
