Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 3, 2001 Light copper; Aroma: Unfolding hops & fresh, bready malt; Palate: very fresh-tasting floral hoppiness. Clear golden ale with a tiny, fizzy, white head. Black tea, biscuit, sugar cookie and wildflower honey flow into my nose from the glass. The flavor is bitter, fruity and dry. Light-bodied and fizzy. Short, crisp, moderately bitter finish. Cheers to growler for bringing this bottle back from his New England trip! muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Apr 26, 2004 Updated: Oct 15, 2005April 2004: 12 oz bottle. Clear copper, good head retention. Nicely balanced spicy grapefruity hops and firm malts in the nose. Fairly sweet, nice body, slightly buttery, little hops in the flavor, some orange, creamy...dull but quite drinkable. 7/3/5/3/12 3.0
October 2005: I got little from the nose...some spicy sprucy woodiness, bit of citrus...in the nearly as indistinct mouthfeel, it’s moderately bitter, lightly smoky-ashy...peppery-dry almost alkaline finish...just not refreshing or enjoyable despite some interesting components. 4/3/4/2 2.0 Rating is a combination of the two.
