Commercial Description:
Straw-colored and crystal-clear, this Pilsner brew is our first genuine lager beer. We used a traditional German lager yeast strain, and the classic Saaz, Hallertau and Hersbrucker hop varieties. Original gravity of 12.5 plato, followed by 8 weeks of fermentation and conditioning (compared to 2 weeks for our ales), result in a 5.5% abv. and a remarkably crisp, clean flavor.

Thick fluffy white head sits on a solid, healthy bronze body in a PSU pilsner glass (brother Jer’s pour produces three times more foam!)... dry, almost undetectable scents of malts or hops... a full-bodied pilsner to the palate--almost an altbier in body and mouthfeel, alternately creamy and edgy... crisp, champagne-like dryness... the label seems more interested in what hops are used, but the malts are heady.... not your average pilsner , and that is said with some complimentary sentiment: heavier, tighter, more present than its body might suggest--consistent with a hint of fruitiness at the finish...

Dark gold with decent white head, nice lacing. Nose is rather weak but has some hop citrus, doughy malts, floral rain water. Flavor is stronger with more sweetness and citrus. Nice, full body that’s not as crisp as it is fizzy. Decent pilsner.

Bottle, best by 9/08. Aroma of oddly prevalent hay with an equally odd limey touch. Flavor of grains and mild bitterness. I can’t say it’s bad, but certainly on the boring side.

Bottle, best by 9/2008. Pours a straw yellow with a small foamy white head. Aroma of stale wheat and hay. Flavor is similar, along with a sharp light fruitiness. Not very exciting. Too stale for me.

Bottle. Light golden pour with a frothy white head. Faint aroma of spicy hops and not much else. Strong citrus presence in the flavor, has a powerful grapefruit taste that overpowers from start to finish, Not bad though.

Bottled. Pale yellow pour, cloudy. Very malty for a pils, with a nice biscuity flavor going on, and the right hops. A bit too sweet and full bodied for the style but still a good drinking beer.

Poured from bottle (8/2008). Love the sweet hoppy aroma. Darker than most Pilseners, thin persistent head. Hop and malt blend not unlike a good pale ale. Lager/Pils notes kick in the aftertaste. Really takes on pils character about midway through. Great finish. One of the better pils I’ve tried.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly darker color than expected for a pils- more of a medium to light copper- or a very deep gold. Nice lasting white head. Aroma is toasty malts, light pils, ltos of sweet cara pils and a nice earthy doughy mt hood-like hop character and some continental hops as well. Flavor is also a bit on the sweeter side for a pilsner, ligth doughy malts and some cara pils sweetness, good earthy herbal hops- noble and fresh- also a wierd spicy earhty hop finish which reminds me of eating a vlassic bread and butter pickle. Interesting beer. I kinda like it.
