Commercial Description:
Straw-colored and crystal-clear, this Pilsner brew is our first genuine lager beer. We used a traditional German lager yeast strain, and the classic Saaz, Hallertau and Hersbrucker hop varieties. Original gravity of 12.5 plato, followed by 8 weeks of fermentation and conditioning (compared to 2 weeks for our ales), result in a 5.5% abv. and a remarkably crisp, clean flavor.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold, white head. Aroma is burnt meat, malt, hops. Flavor is hoppy, malty, some peat, but there is also a bizarre smoky/bitterness that makes this drinkable.

Pours pale gold with splotchy 2-finger white head. Nose is dry florals, citrus, pale malt, Saazy hops. Tastes citric, hoppy, with pale malt, mild floral, peppery, and orange marmalady hints along the way. Nice.

I thought this was pretty good, especially for a pilsener. Light bodied, crisp, and highly drinkable but not watery. Nothing not to like about it. Grassy hop flavor typical of pilseners, but a little bit more taste than most. Faint aroma.

Bottle. Golden body, big white head with ample lacing, a bit of a foamer coming out of the bottle. Weak nose with light fruit. Crisp body with a dry caramel note that doesn’t fit the style, not terribly hoppy in aroma/flavor (i.e., finishing hops) but with bitter start and finish.

A nice slightly higher than average pilsener. Aroma was nice. Bready with a distinct citrus hoppiness. Pour was a nice light hazy gold with a 2 finger white head. Taste was pilsner malt, bread and yeast with a mouth drying bitter hop bite in the aftertaste. Good carbonation which makes this beer very refreshing. Nice

Bottle: Poured a cloudy orange color with a nice white head. The aroma was of some floral and fruit. The flavor was a little bit hopped and spiced. Overall, a tasty beer from Ithaca.

Ithaca Pils is a slightly hazy light golden lager. It is very sparkling with a small, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, grassy and slightly fruity. It is medium light bodied with a clean, crisp finish. It is well balanced with decent bitterness. It tastes like Saaz. The aftertaste is leafy. It’s a simple and refreshing lager.

The label on this bottle says; Ithaca Pils Golden Lager, so I guess this is the right place to put my rating. Some mild citrus aroma. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager appearance, with just a slight haze. Sharp bitter big pilsner hop bite. Very good carbonation. Lingering medicinal coating palate. I am rather surprised by the amount of bitterness this has in it, I would say it borders on IPA territory. Long lingering bitter graperfruit rind finish. This has many ale attributes and if I didn’t know better, I would never think of this as a lager.
