Commercial Description:
A strong ale with festive spices, this deep chestnut colored brew carries a hearty 8% abv. During the boil, the wort is infused with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and other secret spices...resulting in a concoction that will warm the toes and invigorate the spirit. Pleasantly spicy when fresh, this ale will become more complex and mellow with age.

Bottle. A sweet, warming beer. Pours reddish brown with a small, fizzy (cola-like) head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is spicy and slightly Trois Pistoles-esque. Cinnamon and nutmeg, caramel, toasted malts, molasses. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Finishes sweet with a slight to moderate bitterness. Medium body and watery texture and a very fizzy carbonation. This beer had me thinking it was fine almost to the finish, when it came unhinged and unbalanced — its watery texture and over carbonation kept the many flavors from sticking around as long as they should have for a winter beer. The more I drank, the less I enjoyed the mix of tastes, short-lived as they were.

12 oz bottle, via BA beertruth. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small off-white fizzy head that faded to a wispy film quickly. The nose is quite spicy with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and what almost seems like chili peppers. Some caramel, toasted, and and light roasted maltiness as well. The flavor is mostly an amalgam of spices, with cinnamon and nutmeg being the easiest to pick out. Finishes with a sort of perfumy taste that doesn’t ring as particularly pleasant with me. The middle is more of a brown ale like beer with nuttiness, light coffee, and toasted malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slight stickiness on the finish and moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was decent, but I think that it went a little to eclectic with the spicing.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown not quite opaque with no retention. Aroma was molasses, brown sugar with a bit of alcohol. Taste was sweet - sugar, raisins, and some alcohol. Nice lingering palate.

Poured a light brown. Sweet spicy aroma and flavor. Nutmeg, cinnamon, decent hop profile. Warming. Wouldn’t want more than one of these at the same time.

The color was medium brown. The head was thin, fizzy, and white. The aroma was glue, alcohol, and spice. The flavor was bandaid, meat, and spice. The alcohol was hidden well. The palate was lively. The finish was glue.

Caramel aroma with a slight amount of fruit and chocolate. Dark amber color with a small white head. Dark and lightly sweet malt taste to start with getting more bitter in the finish. A little bit of roasted flavor in the ending. Mildly creamy.

Bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear deep ruby-brown with a spare diminishing tan head. Aroma of toasty caramel malt, coffee, spices, nuts and alcohol -- surpisingly nice. Flavour: Wow, I was not expecting to like this very much but it’s quite interesting and tasty: Roasted malt, spices, coffee, dark fruit and hops -- lots going on here. Alcohol reasonably well hidden. Medium bodied, low carbonation (but it suits it). What a pleasant surprise this was, I really liked it.
