eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Nov 22, 2004 The commercial description for this beer is pretty right on. It is a beer that is generously hopped, but still manages to maintain a creamy, sweet balance. Not as overbearing as many IPA’s but also not as dynamic. Still, a good beer altogether. Coats a pint glass, as well as a palate, nicely.
Capa (738), Yokosuka, Japan Sep 16, 2007 @ GJBF 2007. Pours reddish copper. Light aroma, slightly roasted, frutiy, and mild hops. Flavor is nice, though weak. Citrus hops, caramel malts, toasted, and light fruits. It isn’t bad at all, but it needs more flavor and definitly more aroma. Iwate Kura is usually better than this. asheft (978), Marburg, Germany Apr 13, 2007 [cask at Popeye]
Fruity apricot aroma with subtle caramel malt notes, though a bit weak. Sherried wiskey appearance with no top. Extremely fruity flavour of peach and apricot with a little buttery sweet hazlenut notes. Very low bitterness with coffee and vanilla-y roast barley character with some nuttiness. Very low carbonation, medium to full body, quite sweet finish. TimE (1037), Tokyo, Japan Apr 22, 2006 Mahogany red color with almost no nose. Malty body with caramel and raspberries, but very unbalanced. Dry boring finish. Pretty lame from a brewery that does decent stuff. IslandHaole (1030), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan Nov 24, 2004 A dark amber/orange color with a thick, beige head. A nice malty scent, slight floral hoppiness. A nice but simple flavor of malts. Flavors improve and show a bit of complexity as this warms while swooshing around in your mouth. A good session brew and would do well paired with Tempura or Yakisoba. Very quaffable but not spectacular.
