Hoppy, malty nose with notes of orange, caramel, toffee, chocolate and citrussy hops. Malty taste with orange, grapefruit, caramel, milky chocolate, wild berries (cowberries, raspberries?), hazel nuts and lots of citrussy hops in the finish. Slightly above medium body. Sweetish malt. Complex stuff with lovely balance. Great stuff. JustinBathurst (135), Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Jul 14, 2008 Pours orange brown with a 2 cm tan head.
Aroma is a touch of roasted malt, red licorice, molasses, grass.
Mouthfeel is smooth and has medium-high carbonation.
Taste is bready malt, a bit of coffee, with a nice bitter finish. It’s a bit metallic and musty.
A pretty average beer. Bov (4623), Bienne, Switzerland Jul 4, 2008 courtesy of Per - pours a clear dark amber colour under a little beige foam; decent hoppy nose with notes of citrus, nut and caramel; slightly earthy; a moderate initial sweetness, very malty and tasty, some astringence, a fair bitterness leads to a long malty caramelish and gently spicy finish - a solid beer Joakgust (66), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 16, 2008 50 cl botte - Thick amber colored beer with a small dark head. Aroma is dominated by english malts with some dried grass. Flavor rests heavily on caramel with some hops. Not as good as the X-mas sort. A bit disappointing really.
