Jun 14, 2009 Growler sampled at Noog Four-0 5/31/08: Pours a transparent copper amber with a stringy-lacing froth of off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel and biscuity Belgian malt with a nice yeasty character and light fruity esters. Body starts with good caramely malty flavor and body along with a doughy yeasty character and some fruity complexity with a touch of brown sugar toward the finish. A nice Belgian abbey ale.

Apr 18, 2009 Draft at Jack of the Wood. Dark ruby pour with ring of tan head. Sweet dark fruit aroma. Well hidden abv. Plums and sweet dark malts in the flavor. Damn good brew.

Mar 6, 2009 Served on draft as part of a sampler. I asked my server if this was a dubbel before tasting it, and she said "yes, it’s high in alcohol." Sigh. Pours a gold tinted brown. Thin head. Fair retention and good lacing. Aroma is toffee and nuts. Taste is toffee, nuts and earthy hops. Medium bodied.

Jun 25, 2008 tap at bar. small fizzy tan head that mostly dissapated into brown body with decent lacing present. aromas of heavy spices (cloves) and yeast. flavor is strong sweet. soft to flat carbonation, medium mouthfeel, and moderat finish duration. not bad but a bit too sweet for me.

Jun 8, 2008 Noogfest ’08. The body was dark brown to ruby. The aroma was sweet pancakes with some caramel and almonds. The taste was caramel with some wood notes. There was also bread crust.

Jun 4, 2008 Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This Belgian Strong Ale pours a deep amber brown color from the growler. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, brown sugar, fruit and sweet. A medium bodied BSA. The malts are fruity and sweet, dark fruit plums and apples. Some other fruity esters as well. Nice beer. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Jun 3, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, rich, mahogany-hued body with a small, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Predominately fruity aroma smelling almost entirely and rather strongly of ripe plums with a minor backdrop of good wholesome alcohol.
Taste: Again, it’s rather fruity, still with the plums and with a sugary sweetness. Light chocolate malt hint. Some warming booze. Finishes fruity with a sourish yeastiness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: It’s good! Different, yes, but good.
