On tap at the brewpub. Pour is a clear orangish amber color. Nutty almond aroma with a caramel tinge. Flavor is nutty at first but then there is a burst of red fruit and hop bitterness at the end. A hint of wood underlying all of it. Decent but not what I would expect from an esb in terms of fruit flavors.

Burnt orange pour with amber highlights and big bubble white head with some lacing. Aroma is ’green’, like fresh wood and pistachio. Flavor notes of smoke, toasty, nutty, toffee, and some hop bitterness in the end. Reminds me more of a nut brown than an esb. Interesting. Not bad.

tap. Deep copper color, thin white head. Fruity, some light chocolate, nutty, toasted grains all in the nose. Rich and full flavored. Huge roasted flavor, roasted nuts, biscuits. Fruity esters in the finish. Linger bitterness keeps the pleasantness long lasting. Finishes dry. Yum.

Amber/copper pour. Fiarly floral nose. A little christmas cookie, malt and good bitterness, though not too much. Finished clean, was pleasant even on a 90+ degree day. The best ESB in the area.

Listed as being 5.5% at the time of this rating. Appearance: Pours a clear, dark copper body with a small, white head. Smell: Pale, bready malts with some slight sweetish toffee notes. Taste: Biscuity, pale maltiness with a bit of toffee-like sweetness. Earthy, medium hop bitterness. Lightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A decent ESB.

Surprising burst of caramel malt comes from this mahogany beer. Maltier than expected, but low hops.
