It was on cask at the brewery, and the beertender told me it was the normal IPA with minor additions when it is casked. I am rating it high because it is the best cask ale I have had in the US. I miss the heck out of real ale and this guy is really trying to get it right, and coming very close. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

UPDATED. Had on cask and wow does this beer go well on task, the mouthfeel was wonderful on this, and the flavors really perk on cask, a definite grab if you see this on cask. unclemattie (2438), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 24, 2008 Tap. I could tell by the second the bartender set the pint down, this is a man’s beer. Deep orange-red amber color, resiny, syrupy, tan film of a head. whoo-ha. Aroma of pine and honey. I am definately in Asheville,NC. Flavor is a rich and heavy malt character, slowly followed by the bold bitterness of citrus hops. Hints of chocolate. Wonderful and delicious. Finishes with a nice grapefruit. Super nice lacing. Other raters comment on a watery texture, not found. Full flavored, Medium bodied. Gold Medal! Gmku (254), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Solid brew pub IPA. Good malt backbone and some prominent hops. Very quaffable, especially in the laidback setting of one of Asheville’s best brew pubs. The food at Jack is excellent, too, by the way. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Plenty of lace. Sweet and malty with plenty of resinous pine and grapefruit flavor. Nice IPA. chronictonic (404), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2005 mild earthy aroma with some floweriness. orange copper color - looks great in the glass. much more subtle than an american ipa (this is an english as listed in their menu). flavor starts with a good malt base followed by hop bitterness. After that it develops a toastiness and then finally finishes with a not unpleasant bitterness from the Target and EKG hops. Tastes what I imagine a good, traditional IPA should taste like. merlin48 (520), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2009 On tap at 12 Bones Barbecue in Asheville. Slightly hazed, dark orange with a small offwhite head. Aroma is herbal and minty, with honey and pink grapefruit notes. Medium body has smooth carbonation. Taste is nicely balanced between the honey/caramel maltiness and the herbal/floral bitter hops. On the bitter side, but the biscuity malt balances very well. Nicely done. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

still a bit too much bitterness in the finish but almost enough sweet caramel and crystal malt to balance it,
