The third time was the charm for me at the Jack of the Wood -- I sampled 3 of their draughts, and this, my third, was the "jackpot" (so to speak). Appearance: Cloudy, reminiscent of a dark Hoegaarden, somewhat strawy. Nose: Subtle, but solid. Taste: This one was damn sexy. Grainy, hoppy, a nice bitter note with some snappiness to it, and a twist of apricot. Quality "English understatement" that I adore. I give this one an A+ in the flavor department. Palate: Perfect. Overall: Wonderful. A tremendous session beer.

Pours a copper color with an off white head. Aroma is some crystal malts and nice juicy citrus hops. Flavor is hop forward with lots of citrus hops, some crystal malts, and a bitter citrus finish.

(Listed as 5.5% when I visited the brewery). Appearance: Clear, light copper body with a small white head. Smell: Light pale maltiness to the aroma with faint notes of citrus and spicy hops. Taste: Mild pale malt presence with a subtle sweetness. Flash of fruitiness. Light spicy hop character. Subdued hop bitterness. Bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Alright for a pale!

Tap at the brewpub on 2/3/08: Transparent dark golden with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet pale grainy malts and a piny English hop presence. Starts fairly full and lightly sweet with an earthy soapy bittering hoppy character before a crisp, dry bittersweet finish. A decent, pretty drinkable APA.

Cloudy brownish copper, thin head. Clean, floral hop aroma. Crisp earthy hops on a base of toasty, mildly sweet malts. Nice session ale.

tap. pale golden color. aroma is a crisp malt, with nice citrus pine hops. Gotta love those American Pale Ales. Flavor is quite balanced. Nice malt character. smooth and mild. Nice presence of barley. Hop character is noticeable and not overbaring. Mild and full flavored. session beer with very nice lacing.

Oaky, gold-brown, filmy head. Lightly floral, slightly plummy, medium sweet ale aroma. Lightly roasted , hoppy, a little oversparged, some diacetyl. Bitter finish, medium to mediuim light body. Mix a west coast brown with an English PA and this is what you get. Finish overstays its welcome a bit.
