chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 22, 2009 Black pour with small tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Creamy in body and flavor had more chocolate. This is almost interchangeable with their porter, though slightly better. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Apr 18, 2009 Had this on draft at the Jack of the Wood shortly after St. Patty’s Day. They were calling it their Irish Stout. I thought they had actually given me a guinness and claimed it for their own! Near black pour with ample creamy tan head. Aroma is light (probably due to the nitro) with subtle chocolate, roast, oats, and some dark berry hints in the flavor. Wonderfully creamy body. I could drink this all night long. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 29, 2008 I would have to go with a toss up between this and the porter for their most enjoyable brew. This has a sweet sort of chocolate richness, with the right amount of roastiness. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Stout

Black. Good head leaving lots of lace, sweet roasted aroma, rich creamy body with a good dose of chocolate, touch of oatmeal oilyness, slight lingering bitter finish that almost disappears when it warms

Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Jan 8, 2007 Draught. Poured large frothy head. Very Dark. Sweet and Creamy with smooth aftertaste. A very good draught beer. Head stuck to my lips as I drank it. A lighter taste than other Stouts. But Good. Fish (439), Kure, Japan Jan 4, 2007 Shared a pint of this brew with Tony and Lauren when they visted Asheville last week. Black body, medium dark brown head. Not much to tickle the palate or the nose; but full of pleasant, sweet, dark malts. Still one of the best sweet stouts in town. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 30, 2006 Dang near opaque. Light woody, slight cereal aroma. Watery, smooth mouth. A bit vacant after the porter, but medium sweet, not fizzy, nutty. A bit flat. The porter’s better. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Dec 18, 2006 Draught at brew pub. Nice obvious nitro-stout appearance, dark with a tan head. The aroma is a bit restrained (in typical Jack of the Wood fashion) but smoky sweet coffee notes stand out. The flavor is an oat and sweet chocolate onslaught, with the creamy mouthfeel making it very rich and deep. The rich espresso finish rounds off this very nice brew.
