| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Bottle labeled "Best Bitter Ale" from Corti Bros., Sacramento. The aroma is so roasted it smacks of coffee! Hazy tea/amber color with a white head that barely arrived. Very smooth, medium body with light, creamy carbonation. Some stone fruit comes forth, and the roasted malt is right there. Must be bitter floral hop or something, because there is a lot of bitter, but no citrus or resin. It certainly fits an English bitter style, but it is different. A bit harsher in the finish, perhaps. Good ale. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA

A medium bodied “bitter”. Malts are mild and nutty. Hops are citrusy, floral and bitter. A mild version of the classic English bitter. Very drinkable. It is somewhat over-carbonated. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter. ratman197 (3254), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 10, 2000 Updated: Aug 13, 2004The beer after dispensing from the 12-ounce brown bottle sets in the glass a golden amber color with a portly in size white semi-creamy head, and the lace a fine sealing sheet upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, fresh and clean and the start slightly sweet with a nice malt profile, top is light to medium in its feel. Finish is moderate in acidity, the hops pertinent to the style with the aftertaste dry and a real nice drinking beer. marcus (1896), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2005 On tap at Jack Russell. This light amber beer poured with a large white head, eliciting a sweet hoppy aroma. The flavor was thin (but not as thin as most British bitters) and left a slightly bitter sensation on the tongue, as a bitter should. Not bad for this style, which is not my favorite by far.
