Commercial Description:
Jack Russell Brown Ale is relatively light in body but full of the flavor of caramel with roasted, nutty tones. Carbonation and hop character are relatively low, the way this style of beer is traditionally made in England.

Bottle from Corti Bros. in Sacramento. Aroma of roasted malt. Hazy, brownish color with reddish hilites. The white head went away rather quickly, but there’s a bit of ring lace. Rather thin in body, with biting, but almost creamy, carbonation. The flavor is fairly smoky roasted caramel. Somewhat nutty. Some other flavors are present, but I can’t clearly pick them out from the smoky malt. There is a slightly sour hint in the finish, which is definitely dry, and seems to have some hop bitter. The smoky aspect persists. Overall a good, though smoky, brown ale. Smoother than many browns.

Bottle: Dark brown, mahogany color through the light, thin head, no lacing. Nose is smoky and roasty; hugely nutty and sweet, creamy. The flavor is rich, creamy; vanilla, molasses, milk thistle. The finish is chewy, rich, unique. A bit of dry alcohol and astringency. Very nice chewy brown ale.

Beige head, decent lacing. Both lasted a long time. Opaque deep brown color. Medium body. Coffee is the dominant flavor. Carbonation is under control. Aroma consists of hint of coffee which comes on like a rush in the flavor.

Pours a translucent brown with a thin tan head. Smells of nutty brown malt with a the light hint of some hops. Tastes of light caramel malt. Nutty and lightly bitter. Very smooth. A sticky aftertaste with some lingering bitterness. Very very smooth. This is a straight up brown ale. Nothing fancy but very true to the style. If you look "smooth brown ale" up in the dictionary, there’s a picture of this beer.
