Commercial Description:
Pale ale is a special variety of British ale that tends to be more hoppy and higher in alcohol. Ours is truly British with a robust maltiness and a good dose of Northdown hops.

On tap at brewpub. Darker than most pale ales. Tasty British style malt. Good hop balance - grassy earthy. Very drinkable, smooth palate. Very good.

Pleasantly surprised, very tasty. If I were to compare this to Sierra Nevada, this would beat Sierra hands down. Great balance of malt and hops.

Thanks to Valley Steve for this one. Pours an interesting dark copper with minimal head. Nose is quite maly and mellow sweet. The flavor is quite enjoyable with malt dominating, an earthy mid, and a very subtle hop dry finish. Not a hint of alcohol. Smooth on the palate.

From a 12 oz bottle this poured a very clear light copper color with a nice fat white head and good lacing. Off to a good start. The nose is of caramel malts with whiffs of citrus and fruity hops. Medium mouthfeel but smooth. Flavor is of hops, and the finish is nicely bitter. Pretty easy to drink.

Bottle> Pure amber, highly active, bringing an enticing activity level and a living head. The aroma is alluring as well, full of sweet cereals. As if the intent all along was to stick to the breakfast theme, this drinks like a liquid Wheat Chex, full of rich, malty cereal grains, but enticingly sweet and enjoyable. quite a good beer, actually.(#3397, 4/10/2008)

12 oz. bottle. Dark citrus aroma along with sweet caramel and light stone fruit. Nice amber color with a white head that quickly filmed. Thin to medium body. Near creamy carbonation. The flavor is complex. Earth, citrus, caramel, tobacco?, light stone fruits. The finish is earthy hop, and a touch of orange. Really something good.

Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid deep orangy pour with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of bready caramel malt, orange marmalade, spicy florals, slight funk, and peppery notes. The taste was bready caramel malt, some earthy hops, pepper, and spicy floral notes. This one came across like a Belgian themed IPA such as Urthel Hop it, and was quite good.

I had brewed a HB Pale Ale about 2-3 months ago. One of the things that I disliked about it was the eruptive head that was produced upon pouring. I’m talking in a glass 10" tall, 1" of beer and 9" of foam. This was exactly the same thing. HUGE head and it wasn’t pretty. The beer (once the head went down) was a dark copper color. Aroma was malty, slightly metallic and fruity but it was ALL so...blah and bland. Mouthfeel was watery, thin and unpleasant. Flavor was bland and boring. Unfortunately, another beer from Jack Russell that is just below average.
