GABF 2009. Pours dark brown with an average, fizzy light brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toasted grain), light hop (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of date, wood, and charcoal. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. Some lacto noted.

Sample at the brewpub. This Porter is a dark brown color that lets some light through. Medium light beige head that diminishes quickly. Aroma of mild chocolate and roasted malt. Medium body with flavors of milk chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of hops. The flavors are short-lived though. The finish is chocolate up front with a short coffee aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Pint at the brewpub. Pours brown with a medium tan head. Caramel malt aroma with a hint of roast. Sweet caramel flavor up front with a teeny bit of roast and hop bitterness on the back end. I prefer a bit more roast character, but not bad.

July 17-19, 2008: Drawn & Portered is a good, fun name. It described as beer that has a very deep brown color with a ring of beige around the edge of the top sruface. The aroma has notes of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is like malt extract with hints of molasses and toast, and is slightly sweet and nutty. There is even a touch of coffee in there as well. This medium-bodied porter is fairly good.

Draught sample at Jackie-Os Pub and Brewery in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2008. Rating #4 for this beer.

Bread Coffee and Malt is the nose, a very base smell, very dry and chocolaty however the beer is lacking in complexity and balance. Not a bad start but this beer needs a little work.
