Commercial Description:
Original Dark Lager is brewed according to J.C. Jacobsen's original recipe. The colour is chestnut. It has a Hersbrucker hop aroma while the floor malted Munich malt adds a caramel character. The carbonisation is gentle and the hop bitterness is soft. Enjoy at 6-8º.

Pours clear dark golden with a frothy white head that vanishes. Aroma of plum, prune, vanilla. Taste is sweet caramel. Watery, syrupy mouthfeel. Not bad. (Sampled @ Nærbø Ølfestival 2009)

Bottle. Pours chestnut with a small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma of brown sugar. The taste is watery , sweet caramel and a total lack of bitterness.

33cl bottle@ Rotterdam, Helsinki. Pours chestnut color as it says on the bottle, with a nice beige head. Mild hop aroma, toffee and malt flavor. Very easy to drink.

Ruby brown, filtered. Nice head, small bubbles. Rich malty aroma, some complexity. Some licorice. Too much alcohol . Too thin bodied. Nice beer. Purchased in SuperBrugsen.

Sample at "strong beers and sweet cakes" - matched with a cranberry muffin. Clear copper color with a small off white head. Grain and dark bread in the aroma along with some light toasted notes. Light caramel sweetness and a light roasted bitterness. The bread is even more noticeable in the moutharoma.

Bottle. Chestnut? OK. The aroma is nice fruity but has a little something pointy to it too much brown sugar. The taste is watery more brown sugar and a bad aftertaste something astringent. Won’t buy again but a good try.

Nice looking bottle. I’d not been aware of this brand until stumbling across it in my local BCLDB store. Poured a smallish tan head to cap an attractive clear and dark copper body. Aroma was indistinct, but quite alright. Taste was pleasant, with some malts, and the mouth was comfortable. Nice beer; I could drink more of these.
