A good stout, a bit rough around the edges, up front alcohol, sweet malts, nice oily mouthfeel, which is thin to medium bodied. Quite like it. maeib (4760), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2005 Bottled. A gorgeous aroma which is oily, tarry and full of lightly roasted malt. There is a sweet nail varnish type smell which is really appealing. The colour is obviously black and there starts off being a large tan coloured head, but that disappears all too quickly. The taste is full bodied, sweet roasted malts, alcohol, a bit of sweet chocolate and an oiliness. I’ve yet to have a ’Foreign Stout’ I’ve not enjoyed, and this one doesn’t buck that trend. bierkoning (6087), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2005 Bottle. Very dark color, almost opague. Roasted malt and licorice in the aroma and flavor. Nice beer, but not very refined and on the sweet side for this type of stout. Refreshing. Lubiere (4549), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 21, 2004 Deep black stout with reddish cherry hues, and a thick collapsing moka head. Aroma of vanilla and Nestle Quick. Sweet chocolate with notes of raisins, licorice and some alcohol in finish and light bitterness. Body is thin and short. Not as intense as Dragon but still a good export stout. Thanks Presario. jbrus (4893), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2004 Very nice aroma but the varnish flavor doesn’t do it for me. So I had problems giving it a 6 but still did because it looked good and didn’t taste bad overall. jerohen (1615), Bussum, Netherlands
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2004 Black coloured, dark brown head. Roasted malts in aroma. Very sweet flavour, lots of liquorice. Alcohol is well hidden, but there’s not a lot of complexity. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 10, 2004 Oh, SOY can you see...as in soy sauce. There is a nice slickness on the palate, but the rest is vinegar, soy and coffee. I can see how others like it, as it isn’t run of the mill, and complex enough...just doesn’t taste to my liking. motelpogo (4395), Plzen, Czech Republic
